Scallops are widely distributed from northern Tohoku to the Sea of Okhotsk. Their breeding is particularly typical around Aomori Mutsu Bay and throughout Hokkaido. Near the Sea of Okhotsk, young scallops are released into the sea, where they are cared for on the seabed for four to five years. This process enables the development of large-sized wild scallops, which also attract outstanding attention at the international level. In addition, they owe their exceptional taste to the fact that it is not necessary to give them artificial food, and their fishing grounds are located in the immediate vicinity, thus ensuring extreme freshness.
